Summer Dispatches

It’s been a while since my last major post, so here is a summary of what we have been up to in the last few months.
Summer Vacation
This summer Barb and the kids went back to Canada for two weeks, while they were there they spent some time up in Baysville swimming and taking it easy. Then they went down to Toronto and went to Canada’s Wonderland and visited with friends and Barb’s family. The trip ended with Oma’s 75th birthday party. While they were gone, I took a little time off and did a lot of bike riding, both on the road and mountain biking.

Relay For Life

2005 Relay For Life at New Providence New Jersey

In June Barb and Alec we involved in a fund raising event for Cancer called Relay For Life. It is a sort of walk-a-thon where they had a team of kids that spent a 12 hour period from 6pm to 6am taking turns walking around the track at a local high school. They raised a total of about $1400 through pledges, a garage sale and through the auctioning of a quilt that Barb and our neighbour Lynn Fishburn made (and that I ended up buying back). It was a lot of work for the both of them (especially Barb) and a great experience. Cancer is an important cause and Barb and Alec dedicated their funds to the memory of Laura Martin and to our friend John “Jet” Leslie.

Barb’s Trip To England
In early May Barb went to England to visit Rita. While she was there they visited a number of local gardens as well as made a side trip to Holland. She also had a nice visit with our cousin Diane.

12 1/2 Year Anniversary
April 16th was our 12 1/2 year wedding anniversary. The Dutch celebrate it because it’s half way to 25. We figured it was a good excuse to go out for a nice dinner.

Mom And Dad’s Spring Visit
This spring Mom and Dad came for their semi-annual visit. I can’t remember but I believe it was Easter and that it was late this year. I do remember that we had beautiful weather and as usual Dad and I got a bunch of house projects done. We also went on a road trip to Doylestown PA to see Font Hill, a cool old house that Barb and I visited last year.

Audioverité
For the past four or five years I’ve been working on an mp3 player with a friend of mine at work. I’ve finally decide to start giving it way to any one that wants to play with it. If you are interested, click on the icon to go the website and learn more.
