Well it’s been a long time since I did an update to our site. So long in fact that the software that runs the site
cleared my previous entry from the front page. Well, I will try to cover all the news in the V-M family since last
Christmas, which sadly is not much.
Summer Vacation
This summer, Alec and I went back to Canada for a week for a bit of a vacation. Unfortunately due to summer school Barb and John could not come. One of the main highlights of the trip was a small 50th anniversary party for Mom and Dad. We had the party in the backyard, and about 20 of their close friends came. The weather threatened all day raining torrentially at times, but in the end it cooperated for the party. I took my bikes and managed to get in a ride with my friend Walter as well as around the Baysville area. Alec got to do lots of swimming and even jumped off the Baysville Bridge for the first time. Barbie Quilts
In early April Barb helped out with the Habitat For Humanity effort that was building a house to be sent to Texas. Her local quilting guild was creating a quilt to go along with the house and I guess a photographer was taking some pictures. Barb has been very busy in the last 6 months or so with her quilting business and has been quite successful. She has a small set of happy customers and has decided to call it “Barbie Quilts” for which we have created a
web site where we hope to post pictures and information about her work.
Bike Blog
Last summer my friend Wally and I spent the summer send IM’s to each other everytime
we rode detailing the length of the ride, our pace etc. Walter kept track of his rides in a spreadsheet, I did not.
So this year I thought I would do something a little different and created a simple blog where I can record a few words aboutthe ride and track distance, pace, etc. Yes I know that this is of absolutely no interest to anyone, but what can I say, I’m a geek.
Stained Glass
I have been busy on and off with a large stained glass project to replace the windows in our living room. The plan is to
create a set of six panels for the top of the bay windows and two large panels for the doors between the living and dining
rooms. They are based on a design we saw last year by Frank Lloyd Wright at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I’ve managed
to finish the first of the small panels and have started on one of the large ones. I expect that this is going to take
a while.
Boxman
This spring break the kids occupied themselves by creating a little movie using a digital camera and the iMac and with the help of some local extras created a series of flicks about Boxman. They are somewhat silly but at least they were out doing something creative instead of watching
TV.
